Purvish M. Parikh, M.D., D.N.B, F.I.C.P., Ph.D., E.C.M.O., C.P.I.
Dr. Parikh is Professor and former Chief of Medical Oncology at Tata Memorial Hospital, a world-class
oncology research center in Mumbai, India. He is the convener and head of the Indian Cooperative
Oncology Network (ICON), a network of over 200 physicians organized to foster and encourage cooperative
clinical research in oncology in India.
He also serves in a number of prominent advisory positions, including Member, Task Force on Cancer
Management in India; ICMR and Member, PAC, National Cancer Control Program, Ministry of Health for
the Government of India; Member, Palliative Care Working Group, European Society of Medical Oncology,
Switzerland; Founding Member, Task Force on Developing Countries of European Society of Medical
Oncology, Switzerland; Secretary, Society of Medical & Pediatric Oncology (ISMPO); and Vice President,
Indian Society of Hematology & Transfusion Medicine. He has been a Research Fellow at the Memorial
Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, Johns Hopkins Hospital and Royal Marsden Hospital (London).
Dr. Parikh has served as principal investigator in more than 30 ICH GCP/ ICMR compliant cancer clinical
trials, and has contributed to more than 50 other trials at Tata. He has also participated in several
international pivotal phase II and phase III trials for pharmaceutical company sponsors.
He received his Ph. D. in Applied Biology from Bombay University, F.I.C.P. from the Indian College of
Physicians, D.N.B from the National Board, New Delhi, and M.D. from Bombay University.
Dr. Parikh has also received the European Certification in Medical Oncology from ESMO in Switzerland
and is a Certified Physician Investigator of AAPI and ACRP, USA.
Dr. Parikh has authored 12 books and chapters in various books. He has published 70 technical papers
and has co-authored over 100 other papers in medical journals.
