Scientific Advisory Board


The IndiPharm Scientific Advisory Board (SAB) is comprised of a distinguished U.S. scientist with extensive experience in small - and medium - size Pharma firms, and two of India’s best known and most respected physicians, each carefully chosen for international experience in their respective areas of expertise. The Company’s SAB members are valuable contributors to its strategic development. In particular, they will provide IndiPharm with advice regarding where to obtain patients, sites, and Good Clinical Practices-compliant physicians in India for the conduct of clinical trials.

Shashank Joshi, MD, DM, FICP, FACE

Dr. Joshi is a practicing Adult & Pediatric Endocrinologist and Diabetologist. He is affiliated as Consulting Endocrinologist with a number of leading hospitals in Mumbai, including Lilavati & Bhatia Hospitals, and the Department of Endocrinology, Seth G.S. Medical College and KEM Hospital in Mumbai. Dr. Joshi is the Editor of the Journal of the Association of Physicians in India (JAPI), the Indian Journal of Endocrinology and Metabolism, and several other leading medical journals. He is the Founder and Executive Editor, Indian Journal of Critical Care Medicine, and Honorary Editor, Indian Journal of Clinical Pharmacology & Therapeutics.

Dr. Joshi has served as Visiting Faculty Member at a number of International Universities and is actively involved with evidence based work in Endocrinology including Obesity, Diabetes, Growth, Thyroid, and Osteoporosis. He has been a Visiting Clinician at the Mayo Clinic and has served on the ICMR-WHO Task Force for Management of Type 2 Diabetes. He has also been the Director of the Asian Health Clinic in Western Australia.

Dr. Joshi received his M.B.B.S. and M.D. in Internal Medicine and D.M. in Endocrinology from Bombay University, and F.I.C.N., F.I.C.P., and FACE from the USA. He is a Fellow of the American College of Endocrinology and has the Diploma of Growth from Sweden. He has served as the principal investigator in a number of multinational clinical trials. Dr. Joshi has authored 9 books and is the Editor of “Practical Medicine”, the most popular undergraduate medical textbook in India. He has over 360 publications.

Purvish M. Parikh, MD, DNB, FICP, PhD, ECMO, CPI

Dr. Parikh is Professor and former Chief of Medical Oncology at Tata Memorial Hospital, a world-class oncology research center in Mumbai, India. He is the convener and head of the Indian Cooperative Oncology Network (ICON), a network of over 200 physicians organized to foster and encourage cooperative clinical research in oncology in India. He also serves in a number of prominent advisory positions, including Member, Task Force on Cancer Management in India; ICMR and Member, PAC, National Cancer Control Program, Ministry of Health for the Government of India; Member, Palliative Care Working Group, European Society of Medical Oncology, Switzerland; Founding Member, Task Force on Developing Countries of European Society of Medical Oncology, Switzerland; Secretary, Society of Medical & Pediatric Oncology (ISMPO); and Vice President, Indian Society of Hematology & Transfusion Medicine. He has been a Research Fellow at the Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, Johns Hopkins Hospital and Royal Marsden Hospital (London).

Dr. Parikh has served as principal investigator in more than 30 ICH GCP/ ICMR compliant cancer clinical trials, and has contributed to more than 50 other trials at Tata. He has also participated in several international pivotal phase II and phase III trials for pharmaceutical company sponsors.

He received his Ph. D. in Applied Biology from Bombay University, FICP from the Indian College of Physicians, DNB from the National Board, New Delhi, and M.D. from Bombay University.
Dr. Parikh has also received the European Certification in Medical Oncology from ESMO in Switzerland and is a Certified Physician Investigator of AAPI and ACRP, USA.

Dr. Parikh has authored 12 books and chapters in various books. He has published 70 technical papers and has co-authored over 100 other papers in medical journals.

Dr. Mark Strobeck

Dr. Mark Strobeck is a senior member of the management team at Trevena Inc., a drug discovery company. Prior to joining Trevena, Dr. Strobeck was the Head of Business Development for GlaxoSmithKline’s Drug Discovery Division, where he led a team that reviewed, negotiated and completed a number of large, broad R&D collaborations. Previously, he was Vice President at the Center of Excellence for External Drug Discovery (CEEDD), an innovative organization responsible for building an external drug discovery portfolio via a network of business development relationships. Mark was previously a Principal at SR One, the venture capital arm of GlaxoSmithKline, where he focused on making investments in drug discovery, drug development, and research tools companies. While at SR One, he led the financings of Protein Forest and Novalar Pharmaceuticals. He served on the Boards of Directors of Novalar Pharmaceuticals and Protein Forest and as a Board Observer of AlgoRx Pharmaceuticals, Inc., Conforma Therapeutics, Inc., Rib-X Pharmaceuticals and Santarus, Inc. Prior to joining SR One, Dr. Strobeck was at EuclidSR Partners, where he was responsible for deal origination and evaluation, technical and financial analysis, and served as a Board Observer to Fluidigm Corp. and KuDOS Pharmaceuticals. His last position prior to joining EuclidSR Partners was in the Division of Cardiovascular Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania. Dr. Strobeck earned a Ph.D. in Pharmacology and Biophysics from the University of Cincinnati and a B.Sc. from St. Lawrence University.
