IndiPharm provides Western Clinical Trial Sponsors a Gateway to India
Haverford, PA, USA – It is commonplace for small and medium sized Western biotech and pharmaceutical companies to experience difficulties in their efforts to outsource clinical research to lower cost structure nations. Now these difficulties, such as regulatory hurdles, contract and licensing terms, patent infringements, quality control measures, and language barriers, can be mitigated utilizing the expertise of global clinical research organization, IndiPharm LLC. Founded by entrepreneur Dilip R Limaye, IndiPharm’s mission is to provide Western biotech and pharmaceutical companies a complete range of global clinical research services, effectively, efficiently and at a very competitive cost. Mr. Limaye has successfully and repeatedly combined the establishment of a U.S. based organization for client interface with an established Indian operation to execute projects and programs across a wide range of fields. Similarly, Limaye juxtapositioned the squeeze being placed on Western biotech and pharmaceutical companies against the opportunities which exist in India and recognized the need to provide a means to bridge the gap. This led to his founding of IndiPharm.
Joining IndiPharm as President and CEO is Edward J. Brennan, Jr., MD, FACS, who formerly served at GlaxoSmithKline, where he coordinated the pharmaceutical giant’s clinical activities for external partners. Prior to that, Dr. Brennan held various positions at Wyeth and Johnson & Johnson in clinical research and development.
With Brennan and IndiPharm as the U.S. local interface, Limaye brought on board the Bombay Bioresearch Centre (BBRC), in Mumbai, India’s medical capital, to serve as IndiPharm’s principal research facility. BBRC is a world class clinical research facility, and has been conducting clinical trials for many years. BBRC has established strong relationships with nationally and internationally recognized physicians and clinical investigators and organized a nationwide network of clinical sites that are GCP compliant.
IndiPharm has established a Scientific Advisory Board with three highly qualified and respected experts, and offers expertise in all the major therapeutic segments.
The nimble character of IndiPharm helps this CRO navigate around the Indian regulatory process and demonstrates an ability to avoid the bureaucratic red tape encountered by larger firms and academic medical institutions with large overheads. A further advantage is their clear understanding of the cultural differences and the importance of establishing influential contacts in India. The subcontinent now boasts a huge patient pool, world class medical facilities, a highly qualified and trained professional medical community, and a refined infrastructure of information technology and data management. As it continues to morph from a largely agricultural to a more high-value based economy, Western biotech and pharmaceutical companies will find themselves a gateway to India utilizing the expertise and independent perspective of IndiPharm LLC, and reap the benefits of getting drugs to the Western markets faster, providing earlier treatment for patients, achieving a greater return on investment, and obtaining longer patent protection, all at a much lower cost.
